Pro vs. Self

WARNING! We don’t recommend to clean windows by yourself, unless you live in a private 1 story house. If you live in an apartment building or even a 2 story home, dealing with windows is inherently dangerous not just for your own health, but also for anyone around you while you are on ladders.

By cleaning windows in your home by yourself or allowing a non-professional to do it for you – you are putting yourself into an unlimited risk!

In addition – time is money. You will clean windows at least 3-5 times slower than the slowest professional window cleaner. Think about the cost of your time and compare it to the cost of professional window cleaning service. It is a no-win situation, guaranteed. PLEASE DON’T DO IT YOURSELF!

WINDOW CLEANING TIPS

If you still believe you will be more efficient by doing your window cleaning by yourself, here are some tips.

  • If you’re in an apartment, Please notify your building management that you will be doing the window cleaning.
  • Make sure you have all needed tools for the job. To do the job well, you must have the following: washer, squeegee, bucket, chamois, drop cloth, step stool or ladder and a screen removal tool if needed.
  • Make sure you are well rested before you start. Window cleaning might look easy when done by a professional (like anything else), but indeed will take most of your energy for that day.
  • Secure all tools that you plan to be using with some fall preventive means (bungee, ropes, etc.).
  • Make sure you are not leaning from the window at any given moment.
  • Maintain 3 point contact every time you step onto a ladder.
  • Do not expose yourself to heights EVER!
  • Do not step on the ledge of your windows.
  • Do not get outside of the window.
  • Do not put any tools on the ledge of the window.

Remember, work at heights is dangerous. If not properly trained, brain perception of heights might change in a second and cause panic. PLEASE DON’T DO IT YOURSELF!
